House in Casal da Portela

The property lies in an area of rural land, at the edge of the urban perimeter. The proposal develops a single-family house on land of agricultural and woodland value, which is to be reconverted and improved in formal and architectural terms and in the use of its agricultural resources. The proposed siting of the building keeps approximately the position of the existing construction, so as to contain the intervention within ground already built upon.

In design terms, the option lies in maintaining the relation between the architecture and the immediately adjacent outdoor spaces, in keeping the differentiated agricultural paths and uses, and in reinstating native species, as constituent parts of an overall landscape whose identity is to be enhanced.
